This U.S. Privacy Notice describes the practices of Story Slabs Company, LLC and its divisions and subsidiaries (collectively, "Story Slabs," "we," "us," or "our") with respect to the personal information of residents of the United States that we collect in connection with our websites, mobile applications, and any other interaction where we display or link to this Privacy Notice (including emails, newsletters, customer support interactions, events, and submission forms) (collectively, our "Services").

Residents of Certain U.S. States

Additional disclosures for residents of certain states (including "Notice at Collection" disclosures where required) are included in Section X (Additional Disclosures for Residents of Certain U.S. States). This section is intended to address requirements that may apply to residents of states such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Tennessee, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, and Virginia, and may be updated as laws change.

A. Information You Provide to Us

We collect personal information you submit when using our Services or otherwise interacting with us, including:

  • Order information and transaction history.   • Payment information. Our Services may allow payments through third-party payment processors. If you provide payment details, you authorize us and/or our payment processor(s) to receive payment and billing information, process payments, and complete transactions.
  • Information about collectibles and submitted items. Our Services may allow you to submit collectibles for authentication, grading, encapsulation, imaging, and related services. We may collect information you provide about submitted items, including descriptions, declared value, condition notes, prior grading information, photos/images, and submission details. We may also create or record information as part of processing a submission, such as intake scans/photos, internal tracking identifiers, grading notes, population/label data, and shipment/return records.
  • User content and communications. If you contact us, complete a form, submit a request, participate in a survey, post in a community feature (if offered), or otherwise communicate through the Services, we collect the content you provide and related metadata (e.g., timestamps).
  • Event registration information. If we host or sponsor events, we may collect registration details such as name, contact information, and participation details.

Providing this information is generally optional, but not providing certain information may limit our ability to provide Services (for example, we can't return a submission without a return address).

B. Information Provided by Others

We may receive information about you from third parties, including:

  • Service partners and vendors. For example, shipping carriers, payment processors, fraud prevention providers, identity verification providers (if used), event platforms, email delivery vendors, analytics providers, and customer support tools may provide information to us.
  • Marketplaces and publicly available sources. We may collect information that is publicly available (such as marketplace listings or publicly shared social media content) when relevant to submission verification, fraud prevention, customer support, or to improve our Services, consistent with applicable law.

C. Information Collected Automatically

When you use our Services, certain information may be collected automatically, such as:

  • Device and browser information. IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, and approximate location derived from IP.
  • Usage information. Pages viewed, features used, search activity, time spent on pages, navigation paths, referral URLs, and interactions with emails (e.g., opens/clicks), where permitted.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We and our partners may use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to enable core functionality, remember preferences, perform analytics, and deliver advertising where permitted. II. How We Use Information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Operate, manage, and provide our Services. Provide account features, process submissions, authenticate/grade/encapsulate items, image items, manage shipping and returns, provide customer support, maintain internal records, operate our websites/apps, and perform business operations.
  • Communicate with you and process requests. Send transactional updates (submission status, invoices, shipping updates), respond to inquiries, and provide customer support.
  • Verify identity, prevent fraud, and protect integrity. Authenticate accounts, detect security incidents, prevent fraud and abuse, validate transactions, and protect the integrity of our Services and submissions.
  • Analytics and improvement. Analyze usage, troubleshoot issues, improve user experience, develop new features, and conduct internal research and product development.
  • Marketing and promotions (where permitted). Send marketing communications, promotions, and announcements. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time (see Section IV).
  • Personalization. Customize content, settings, and recommendations to improve relevance and usability.
  • Compliance and legal. Comply with laws, enforce terms, handle disputes, defend legal claims, respond to lawful requests, and maintain business records.

A. Email Preferences

You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by using the "unsubscribe" link in the email or contacting us. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send non-marketing communications (e.g., submission updates, account notices).

B. Cookie Preferences

Some cookies are required for the Services to function and cannot be disabled.

C. Do Not Track

Many browsers offer "Do Not Track" signals, but there is no universally accepted standard. Our Services may not respond to Do Not Track signals.

If you live in certain states, you may have additional rights (see Section X).

V. SMS / Text Messaging Terms (If Applicable)

If you provide your mobile number and opt in, we may send SMS messages for account authentication, submission updates, security alerts, or customer support. Message frequency may vary. Standard message and data rates may apply.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP.

We do not share SMS opt-in consent with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

VI. How We Secure Your Information

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, alteration, or disclosure. Security measures may include access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, logging/monitoring, and vendor risk management.

No system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and notifying us promptly of any unauthorized access to your account.

VII. Children's Privacy

Our Services are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law.

VIII. Notice of Monitoring

We and our service providers may monitor and retain records of interactions with our Services for business purposes, including security, fraud prevention, quality assurance, analytics, and customer support.
